Connecticut Crane Operator's License Application

In order to apply for a Connecticut Crane Operator's License, you must complete the application and submit it to the Connecticut's Office of State Fire Marshall. Follow the steps below and you will be on your way to legally operating a crane in Connecticut.

Enter your personal information into appropriate application fields
Submit a photograph - Head & Shoulder view 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch
Choose the appropriate Crane Type & Capacity - Refer our chart below.
Complete the "work experience" section on page 4
Enclose $50.00 payable to "Treasurer State of Connecticut" (fee covers written & practical exams)

Hydraulic Cranes

Code:

H(a) - 30 tons and over*
H(b) - 5 tons up to 30 tons (not including 30 ton)*
H(c) - Between 1 ton and 5 ton (not including 5 ton)
H(d) - Articulating between 1 ton and 5 ton (not including 5 ton)
H(e) - Non-Articulating, non-rotational 1 ton - 5 ton (not including 5 ton)
H(f) - Forklift with hook or winch
- H(f1) - 5 ton and over
- H(f2) - 1 ton up to 5 ton (not including 5 ton)
H(g) - Gantry/Straddle used for construction)
H(pd) - Dedicated Pile driver
H(z)- Other

T(a) - Tower***
T(b) - Carrier mounted or crawler mounted tower and/or luffer**
T(c) - Tower cranes not meeting Ansi B-30.3 Standard

** Luffer must luff on cable

L(a) - Lattice Boom
L(b) - Under 5 ton (not including 5 ton)
